As they try to leave behind the trauma of ...。明治初年，自幼因家境贫困而被送作养女的岛村势以（岡田茉莉子 饰）似乎绝少得到上天的垂怜，养父母在她20岁左右时去世，丈夫在婚后的第5年也撒手人寰，势以独自经营着养父母的茶店，并辛苦拉扯两个女儿长大。次女津也（名取裕子 饰）自幼喜爱画画，并有着卓越的天赋。在蒙师西内（風間杜夫 饰）和名师高木松溪（佐藤慶 饰）的调教下，津也逐渐在和画界崭露头角，并荣获数项大奖。然而荣耀的同时，她又不得不委身松溪，从此开始了身为女人宿命般的悲剧…… 本片根据小说家宫尾登美子的同名原著改编，并荣获1985年每日电影和蓝丝带奖最佳女配角奖（三田佳子）。。
