文迪是一名漫画家，他自小生于贫民区，小时候常被母亲无理虐打，因而变得缺乏信心，所以只能从幻想世界重拾自信。一天，文迪母亲被杀害，杀人狂魔被通缉。十八年后他是漫画主编，他所创造的角色“大狂魔”与“丑小孩”依稀很像他的童年往事，后来自己更千方百计找出狂魔决一死战；而狂魔却告知文迪他母亲的死竟与文迪有关连......。Barnaby and Maxine Pierce’s son is getting married in California and they decide to drive across the country to attend. Along the way they reflect on their tattered relationship and the events that transpired to create the estrangement.。
