退休教师周蕙茹，丈夫早逝，独自含辛茹苦养育一对龙凤胎的儿女，她操心费力，总算儿女们都立业、成家。在人们眼里，周蕙茹苦尽甘来，可以过一个舒服的晚年。然而，这一切被母亲的“职责”击得粉碎。女儿、儿媳相继怀孕、生产，她们之间的矛盾也日益激化，这使周蕙茹疲于应付，处处事与愿违，不但累垮了自己，还用尽了积蓄，连自己也几乎变成了她们的保姆。秦逸帆的鼓励使周蕙茹看到了新的希望。儿女们面对母亲的黄昏恋时而赞成、时而反对，演出了一幕幕人间的悲喜剧。最后，在儿子、女婿和新丈夫秦逸帆的帮助下，女儿、儿媳明白了做母亲的辛劳，大家又和和睦睦地生活在一起。。Michael Keegan-Dolan is one of the most remarkable choreographers working in dance and theatre today.
