南方某小镇的一座大院，里面住着包租公黄金海、郁郁不得志的画家李加索、急于上位的小女演员刘萌萌、镇上的戏剧名旦“小香兰”。因为都急于用钱，他们凑在一起想出了一个馊主意，让画家李加索假死，以此来炒作他的画作。一个假葬礼就这样策划起来，李加索的画价格也直线飙升。然而事情的发展远远超出了他们的想象……。In 1902 London, unhappily married Philip Marshall meets young Mary Gray, who is unemployed and depressed. Their deepening friendship, though physically innocent, is discovered by Philip's wife who threatens him with exposure and scandal, driving him to kill her.
