And beneath the murky surface of the river, a shifting, almost human shape slowly takes form to seek a...。本片是以中国传统神话中的人物财神赵公明为原型，讲述了赵公明在巡视人间时，发现瘟神私自豢养上古妖兽，妄图为祸苍生而出手镇封了妖兽，却没想被瘟神污蔑，导致被贬人间的故事。。某天，一个都市消灭了—— 独行侠运输员拓也，与唯一从消灭中生还的少女小雪。两人靠着本以为音信全无的小雪父亲传来的信息，而开始前往消灭都市。但，两人面前出现了意想不到的阻碍。那是对于小雪而言，过于冲击的现实——对幸存者的思念，暗中活跃的神秘组织，以及被隐藏起来的阴谋。拓也与小雪，原本素昧平生的两人，随着旅行逐渐加深关系，并逐渐逼近消灭都市的谜团。。
