当地一家五金店的老板在科罗拉多州的一个小镇上买下了一栋破旧的房子，但原房主的继承人却带着他10岁的儿子来收回房子。。Joe is an Alien on Earth. At least that is what his father told him before he died when Joe was eleven. He finds it difficult to adjust, and to find a compatible girl friend。根据高尔基话剧改编，但故事从俄国搬到了法国。一个贵族因境遇所迫，放弃奢华的生活，搬进巴黎贫民窟，见证了社会底层的“暗无天日”，其中有房东的乖戾、一个想当演员者梦想的破灭，还有年轻人的恋爱。。
